The Freedom Cruise

In January, we took a cruise with 2 other couples to Central America. This started out as a vacation cruise, but when the time came for it , it had become a retirement cruise, or "Freedom Cruise", as we liked to call it. We left from Tampa, Florida, along with 2 other ships, but we were the leader of the parade.

We approached the Skyway Bridge at sunset,  and as you can see, there isn't a lot of clearance  between the top of the ship and the bridge.      Once we had passed under the bridge,  the pool area on the ship gave a nice contrast to the lights on the Bridge.

Monday was a day at sea. Having a balcony stateroom was a great idea, and we would recommend it to anyone considering taking a cruise.  Not only does it give you fresh air while you are cruising, and provide you a place to just relax, it's also a spiffy place to have your breakfast.  What do you do during a day at sea?  There are classes on a myriad of subjects, everything from napkin folding to emerald mining.  There was also a cooking class.  We learned how to make sushi, among other things, but we're sure that no sushi will ever come from our kitchen.  The lobster, mussels and desserts courses, maybe, but no sushi.  The balcony was a great place to enjoy reading a book.  Dave enjoyed the beer tasting class that they had.  It was a quiet and enjoyable day as we made our way to Roatan.
